Supporting Charities

At Lordswood Girls’ School we are very proud to support a number of charitable causes throughout the year. As part of their remit, the School Council is responsible for organising all fundraising events and always ensure that local, national and international charities benefit from the School’s support.

As a whole school, Lordswood annually raises money for Breast Cancer Now, via the Wear It Pink campaign, Children In Need, Comic Relief, Sport Relief and Save the Children and, to date, has raised tens of thousands of pounds to support these causes.  Individual year groups also support a charity of their choosing each year and the School Council is set the task of organising a fundraising event for each year group to participate in.  Charities such as Cancer Research, The Teenage Cancer Trust, Mind, The British Heart Foundation, RSPCA, NSPCC and UNICEF have all benefited from Lordswood’s support in the past. Popular fundraisers include non-uniform days, Christmas jumper days, bake sales, raffles, photo booths, sponsored runs and splat the teacher!

Mrs Peniket and Year 7 hold their annual Macmillan Coffee Morning every September to coincide with the school Open Morning and have raised thousands of pounds for this cause.

Should a student have a suggestion for a fundraising activity for a specific charity, they are encouraged to speak to Mrs Riley, Co-ordinator for the School Council, in GA11 to discuss their ideas.
